CORE SUBJECT
Israeli Attacks
Saudi Arabia condemned on Friday the "criminal" attacks by Israel on rural Damascus, considering them an attempt to destabilize the security and stability of Syria and its people.
This came in response to retaliatory airstrikes carried out by the Israeli army on the town of Beit Jinn in the Rural Damascus governorate early today, resulting in the martyrdom of 13 people, including women and children, and injuring about 25 others, according to the latest figures from the Syrian Ministry of Health.
These airstrikes followed the residents of the mentioned town confronting an Israeli patrol that had intruded to arrest 3 individuals whom Tel Aviv claimed belonged to what it calls the "Islamic Group," which led to the injury of 6 soldiers, including 3 officers, while the "Islamic Group" in Lebanon denied any activity outside its country.
Saudi Arabia stated in a statement from its Ministry of Foreign Affairs that it "condemns and denounces the blatant aggression carried out by the Israeli occupation forces on the town of Beit Jinn in rural Damascus."
It affirmed its "complete rejection of all Israeli violations on Syrian territory and attempts to destabilize the security and stability of Syria and its people."
Saudi Arabia called on the international community and the permanent members of the Security Council to "confront the repeated Israeli violations in Syria and the aggressive practices against the population in the villages and border areas."
It also demanded the "implementation of relevant international resolutions and laws that ensure Syria's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the security of its brotherly people."
The town of Beit Jinn is located on the slopes of "Mount Sheikh," and is only about 10 kilometers from the border separating it from the occupied Golan Heights and Israel.
Repeatedly, this town has been subjected to various Israeli military attacks in recent months, including air and artillery bombardments and temporary ground incursions.
