Health: Screening 15 Million Citizens as Part of the Early Detection Initiative for Cancer

The Ministry of Health and Population announced the provision of services under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's initiative for the early detection of cancers (lung, prostate, colon, and cervical) to 14,996,773 citizens aged 18 and above, completely free of charge, since the launch of the initiative in June 2023 under the slogan "100 Million Health".

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the initiative relies on a precise electronic questionnaire that identifies risk factors and potential symptoms, which citizens can access directly via the link: https://shorturl.at/anBHM

Upon any suspicion, the case is referred for advanced tests and the appropriate treatment journey begins without delay.

Abdel Ghaffar confirmed that citizens can fill out the preliminary questionnaire either by visiting the nearest health unit or directly through the website, where the type of cancer targeted for detection for each individual is accurately determined. In case of suspicion, necessary imaging and laboratory tests are conducted in hospitals designated for the initiative, and if the results are negative, the citizen is enrolled in a periodic follow-up program. However, positive cases are presented to a multidisciplinary medical committee to determine the treatment plan as quickly as possible.

For his part, Dr. Khaled Abdel Aziz, the executive director of the presidential initiative for early detection and treatment of cancers, revealed some preliminary results from the tests conducted so far, where 76 cases of lung cancer, 293 cases of colon cancer, and 172 cases of prostate cancer have been discovered, all of which are receiving necessary treatment according to the latest global protocols.
