The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, described the vaccination of thousands of children against diseases during the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip as encouraging.
This was stated in a post on the American platform "X" on Thursday, where he commented on the efforts to vaccinate children in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to Israeli genocide over the past two years.
He said in this regard: "It is encouraging that with the ceasefire in Gaza continuing, thousands of children in the area are now protected from vaccine-preventable diseases."
Ghebreyesus thanked the WHO staff who are working in collaboration with the local Ministry of Health, UNICEF, UNRWA, and the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization for providing hope for the health of this large number of children in Gaza.
He confirmed that the WHO will support the continuation of vaccination campaigns in cooperation with its partners.
The Director-General of the WHO concluded his post by saying: "The future of Gaza depends on the health of its youth."
Last Friday, the WHO representative in Palestine, Rick Peeperkorn, stated: "From November 9 to 20, more than 13,700 children were vaccinated as part of a campaign carried out by the WHO, UNICEF, UNRWA, and their partners in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, supported by the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI)."
On October 10, a ceasefire agreement began between Israel and Hamas that was supposed to end the war, but Israel violates it daily, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of hundreds of Palestinians in Gaza, where about 2.4 million Palestinians live.
