Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atti to 'An-Nahar': We Will Spare No Effort to Keep Lebanon from Any Escalation

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atti revealed in an interview with "An-Nahar" that his visit to Lebanon was based on directives from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, to affirm Egypt's full support for Lebanon during this critical period, and full support for President Joseph Aoun, his initiatives, and Lebanon's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

He confirmed that "we will spare no effort to keep Lebanon from any escalation that could harm the security of this country and the region," and that "Egypt is leveraging its diverse regional and international relations with friends and partners for this purpose."

He added: "Egypt is working to utilize its network of regional and international relations and communications to work on de-escalation."

Meeting of Aoun and Abdel Atti at Baabda Palace

After meeting with President Joseph Aoun, the Egyptian Foreign Minister said: "I conveyed to the President that I am visiting Lebanon for the fourth time in a year and a half, which reflects Egypt's concern for Lebanon's security and stability, and this visit comes at the direct instruction of President Sisi."

He noted that "we have followed all developments in the region and Lebanon during the communication between Presidents Aoun and Sisi, and I commend the momentum in the relations between the two countries," emphasizing the importance of the existing coordination between the two brotherly countries.

He stated: "I confirmed Egypt's full support for President Aoun's initiative launched during Independence Day. I also confirmed Egypt's full support for the Lebanese government's decision to restrict arms, and we are making intensive efforts to spare Lebanon any risks against its security and safety, and these efforts will not stop."

The Egyptian minister and his accompanying delegation also met with the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, in Ain al-Tineh.
