Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, affirmed Egypt's full support for the Lebanese state's vision to confine weapons under the legitimate authority of the state and the Lebanese army.
This came during a press conference held after his meeting with the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, where he emphasized Egypt's commitment to supporting the Lebanese state's steps in implementing its plan after completing the area south of the Litani River, extending from there to the north of the Litani River and reaching all Lebanese regions.
The minister pointed to Egypt's support for the vision of Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in confining weapons, affirming Egypt's full commitment to the ceasefire agreement.
He stressed the necessity of the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon and the cessation of all Israeli violations there, while working to maintain the sovereignty of the Lebanese state in accordance with the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701.
He also noted that Egypt is utilizing all its regional and international relations networks to spare Lebanon the repercussions of any potential escalation in the upcoming period, emphasizing the importance of preserving Lebanese sovereignty and the complete condemnation of any infringement upon it, along with the necessity of a complete withdrawal from the five occupied sites in southern Lebanon.
