He emphasized that his visit to Beirut, which is the fourth in less than a year and a half, reflects the Egyptian leadership's commitment to standing by Lebanon during this critical phase, clarifying that any Egyptian move towards Lebanon is based on the principles of supporting its unity, sovereignty, security, and stability.
The Foreign Minister also expressed concern over the rising frequency of Israeli attacks on Lebanese territories, stressing the necessity of concerted efforts to prevent the situation from escalating further, and calling for the full implementation of Resolution 1701 to ensure the withdrawal of Israeli forces and halt their violations of Lebanese sovereignty.
He praised the wise national positions adopted by President Joseph Aoun in support of Lebanon's higher interests, affirming Egypt's readiness to leverage its network of regional and international relations to support efforts for de-escalation and maintain Lebanon's stability, while continuing to support its national institutions.
For his part, President Joseph Aoun conveyed his greetings and appreciation to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, expressing his gratitude for Egypt's steadfast and supportive positions towards Lebanon in various circumstances, and appreciating Egypt's role in supporting regional stability.
The Lebanese President confirmed his aspiration to continue close coordination between the two countries and enhance bilateral cooperation to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples and establish security and stability in the region.
The meeting also addressed regional developments, where Minister Abdel Aty reviewed Egypt's ongoing efforts in cooperation with international partners to solidify the Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement and implement the Security Council resolution regarding Gaza, noting the preparations underway for holding the international conference for early recovery and reconstruction.
