Foreign Minister: We Provide All Support to Lebanon and Fear for It from the Consequences of Escalation

Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, stated that there are directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to provide Egypt's full support to Lebanon.

He added, during a press conference after his meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in Beirut today, Wednesday, that Egypt is working to leverage its network of relations with all important and effective regional and international parties to support de-escalation and implement the ceasefire agreement reached last year.

He pointed to the necessity of working to defuse any potential escalation, affirming Egypt's keen interest in continuing its communications with all Lebanese factions in light of the close, eternal, and extended relations, emphasizing that Egypt's efforts stem from genuine and sincere intentions reflecting Cairo's commitment to the security, stability, and safety of Lebanon.

He clarified that Egypt's efforts are based on principles that focus on full support for Lebanon, considering what Lebanon represents as a pillar for supporting and achieving the desired stability in the region.

He stressed that Egypt will spare no effort to work on reducing escalation and utilizing all its relations and communications with regional and international parties to spare Lebanon any risks of escalation and to work on defusing the crisis.

He expressed Egypt's concern for the security and stability of Lebanon from any possibilities of escalation, which drives Cairo to continue its efforts to spare Lebanon the consequences and dangers of any escalation.

He emphasized that his current visit to Lebanon aims to maintain continuous communication with the Lebanese leadership to build on the vision of the Lebanese president and his initiatives, affirming Egypt's support for the authority of the state as a matter of great importance.

He noted that there is a state of harmony and alignment in the Egyptian position with the Lebanese position as recently articulated by the Lebanese president.
