Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, stated that the state has given special attention to the comprehensive health insurance system for the underprivileged.
This came during the launch of the sixth annual forum of the General Authority for Health Care in the New Capital under the slogan "From Vision to Expansion.. Elevating Health Care to Global Standards."
He added that the state has provided exemptions from subscriptions while activating the automatic registration mechanism based on the databases of the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
He pointed out that the first phase included about 905,000 underprivileged citizens whose subscriptions are fully covered by the state, representing 17.6% of the total registered, reflecting the responsibility the state bears to ensure fair distribution and protect the most needy groups.
He noted that the second phase of the system includes the governorates of Minya, Matrouh, Damietta, North Sinai, and Kafr El-Sheikh with investments exceeding 115 billion Egyptian pounds, bringing the total number of citizens who will be covered by the comprehensive health insurance umbrella to more than 18 million citizens.
He mentioned that the government is currently studying the addition of Alexandria Governorate in the next phase of the system, confirming that the state is moving forward without hesitation in supporting the health sector and utilizing all resources to secure the future of this pioneering national project.
He emphasized that this project will not be completed without the participation and collaboration of both the private and civil sectors with government institutions.
The conference coincides with the sixth anniversary of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's launch of the comprehensive health insurance project from Port Said Governorate.
The forum includes the presentation of innovative documentary films alongside real stories that illustrate the extent of the transformation brought about by the comprehensive health insurance system within health facilities, highlighting examples of successes and daily efforts made to enhance services and ensure the quality of care provided to citizens.
During the first day of the forum, a series of interactive discussion sessions will be held addressing key topics in the future of health care, including building global trust in health systems, enhancing quality and innovation, and developing mechanisms for strategic partnerships to ensure the sustainability of comprehensive health insurance services.
The sessions will include in-depth discussions about the balance between health, financing, and sustainability, as well as discussing the role of the private sector in expanding access to medicine and supporting the national pharmaceutical industry.
The first day of the sixth annual forum will also witness the honoring of healthcare work symbols, success partners, and winners of the annual forum competition and excellence awards at the authority, in appreciation of their contributions and efforts in supporting the health reform journey and developing the care system in Egypt.
