Comprehensive Health Insurance
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, stated that the government has succeeded, in cooperation with the parliament, in issuing a package of important laws under which the bodies responsible for the comprehensive health insurance system were established.
This came during the launch of the General Authority for Health Care's sixth annual forum in the New Capital under the slogan "From Vision to Expansion... Elevating Health Care to Global Standards."
Madbouly added that among these bodies are the Egyptian Drug Authority, the Unified Procurement Authority, the Egyptian Health Council, the Supreme Council for Clinical Research, the Medical Emergency Response Fund, and the Compensation Fund for Medical Profession Risks.
He pointed out the issuance of legislation to regulate medical liability and patient safety, as well as legislation related to investment in the medical sector as key axes within the state's comprehensive vision for radically reforming the health sector in line with the best global health systems.
He noted that the health infrastructure has recently witnessed an unmistakable renaissance, highlighting the level of facilities that have been implemented within the system.
He clarified that these works were not only carried out in Greater Cairo or Alexandria or in the provinces that were described as receiving state attention, but these projects were implemented in Upper Egypt and border provinces.
He emphasized that whenever he visits any province, he makes it a point to visit these hospitals to hear the patients' opinions, and he often hears from patients or their families that they previously had to travel to Cairo to undergo a procedure, imaging, or specific tests.
He pointed out that the highest level of complex medical procedures is being performed in all these hospitals, which represents a significant achievement for the comprehensive health insurance system in its first phase.
The conference coincides with the sixth anniversary of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's launch of the comprehensive health insurance project from Port Said.
The forum includes the presentation of innovative documentary films alongside real stories that illustrate the extent of the transformation brought about by the comprehensive health insurance system within health facilities, highlighting examples of successes and daily efforts made to elevate services and ensure the quality of care provided to citizens.
During the first day of the forum, a series of interactive discussion sessions will be held addressing pivotal topics in the future of health care, including building global trust in health systems, enhancing quality and innovation, and developing mechanisms for strategic partnerships to ensure the sustainability of comprehensive health insurance services.
The sessions will include in-depth discussions on balancing health, financing, and sustainability, and discussing the role of the private sector in expanding access to medication and supporting the national pharmaceutical industry.
The first day of the sixth annual forum will also witness the honoring of healthcare work symbols, success partners, and winners of the annual forum competition and excellence awards at the authority, in appreciation of their contributions and efforts in supporting the health reform journey and developing the care system in Egypt.
