Ukrainian Peace Plan

Amid anticipation of the completion of talks between Kyiv and Washington, a US official confirmed that Ukraine has agreed to the terms of a potential peace agreement.

The official told ABC News today, Tuesday, that the Ukrainians have agreed to the "revised draft peace plan."

He added that there are some minor details that need to be resolved.

For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed cautious optimism, stating according to Al Arabiya, that his country sees many prospects for peace following the US-Ukrainian talks that took place in Geneva last Sunday.

Zelensky wrote in a post on X following a phone call with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer that Kyiv sees many prospects that could make the path to peace a reality.

He also clarified that "tangible results have been achieved, but there is still much work to be done."

In turn, Starmer confirmed that the Geneva talks made progress between the US and Ukraine towards reaching a revised plan.

He stated in a speech before the general council today that the initial draft of the plan included unacceptable points, despite the presence of some critically important elements, such as security guarantees from the United States and its partners.

He emphasized that Britain is clear about the fundamental principles, namely the necessity of maintaining Ukraine's sovereignty and ensuring it can defend itself in the future.

In contrast, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that his country has not received the revised plan.

However, he hinted at the possibility of rejecting it if it does not respect the spirit of the US-Russian discussions that took place last August in Alaska.

He said: "If what was agreed upon during the Alaska summit is obscured, the situation will be completely different," in a veiled hint at rejection.
