Zelensky: I Will Discuss Sensitive Issues with Trump.. and the White House: No Meeting Scheduled This Week

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday that the proposed peace plan, which is currently under discussion with the United States and Europe, includes "correct" points, but there are sensitive issues he will discuss with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Zelensky mentioned in his evening video address: "As of now, after the (Geneva) talks, there are fewer points, no longer 28 points, and a large number of correct elements have been integrated into this framework."

He added: "Our team has already presented a report on the new draft of the steps today, and this is really the right approach. As for the sensitive issues, the most sensitive points, I will discuss them with President Trump."

For her part, White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt said on Monday that there is no meeting scheduled between Trump and Zelensky this week.

Reuters had reported from its sources that the Ukrainian president might head to the United States this week to discuss with his American counterpart the sensitive aspects of the plan to end the war in Ukraine.

In a related context, the White House responded on Monday to criticisms directed at Trump, particularly from within the Republican Party, accusing him of being biased towards Russia in his efforts to end the conflict in Ukraine.

Levitt stated that the marketing of the "idea that the United States is not working with both sides equally to end this war is completely wrong."

The White House spokesperson added that Trump has expressed "optimism and hope" about the possibility of working on a plan to end this war that began in 2022.
