Virus Infection Rates
Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, the presidential advisor for health and prevention, stated that the infection rates of viruses during this period are "normal," emphasizing that their spread is a natural and expected occurrence.
During a phone interview on the program "Hadret Al-Muwatin" on the "Al-Hadath Al-Youm" channel on Monday evening, he denied the emergence of any new types or variants of viruses.
Tag El-Din stressed that obtaining antibiotics or medications without consulting a doctor is "not advisable," explaining that citizens should only resort to them when suffering from bacterial infections in the nose, throat, or respiratory system.
He added that citizens can use pain relievers or medications to reduce secretions when experiencing mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sneezing, or throat congestion, clarifying: "If fever, body aches, or difficulty breathing appear, or if the patient has chronic diseases, they should consult the treating physician and avoid using what is called a cold cocktail."
He urged citizens to avoid sudden transitions from cold to hot environments, to refrain from exposure to air currents, and to stay at home for two or three days when infected, to reduce complications and prevent the transmission of infection to those in contact.
