Dr. Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, the presidential advisor for health affairs, denied the spread of any new viruses in Egypt, confirming that preventive medicine monitors all types of existing viruses.

In a phone interview on the program "Last Word" broadcast on "on e" channel on Sunday evening, he stated that there are no signs of the spread of epidemics and new viruses, adding that flu cases are at their normal rates for this time of year.

He explained that the change of seasons, along with the presence of schools and universities, in addition to weather fluctuations, are the causes of the spread of respiratory viruses, and that medical statistics confirm that the rates are normal, commenting: "The problem arises when one person in the family gets infected, it spreads to several others."

He pointed out that they follow a precautionary policy at all ports and airports, in addition to testing samples, to monitor all new variants.

He clarified that the COVID-19 virus has become seasonal like other respiratory viruses, saying: "No sick person can determine what type of viruses are present... accurate identification is done through testing for types of viruses."

He urged the targeted groups for flu vaccination, including children, the elderly, and those with chronic diseases and tumors, to seek medical advice to determine whether vaccination is necessary.
