This took place during their meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit held on Saturday and Sunday in Johannesburg, South Africa.
A statement from the Turkish presidential communications office indicated that the leaders discussed bilateral relations and regional and international issues.
President Erdogan emphasized the importance of mutual steps between Turkey and France to develop bilateral relations.
He stressed the importance of establishing a ceasefire in Gaza and delivering humanitarian aid to the region.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, he stated that lasting peace requires a two-state solution (Palestinian and Israeli), affirming Turkey's continued efforts to achieve this solution.
On October 8, 2023, Israel, with U.S. support, launched a genocidal war on Gaza, resulting in over 69,000 martyrs and 170,000 Palestinian injuries, most of whom are children and women.
On October 10, a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel was supposed to end the war, but Tel Aviv violates it daily, resulting in hundreds of casualties and injuries.
On another note, President Erdogan called for utilizing all diplomatic means to end the Russian-Ukrainian war and reach a fair and lasting peace.
He clarified that Turkey will continue its efforts to bring both sides of the conflict to the negotiating table focused on achieving peace.
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been conducting a military attack on its neighbor Ukraine, demanding that Kyiv abandon its aspirations to join Western military entities, which Kyiv considers an "interference" in its affairs.
On Friday, the Associated Press published a version of a 28-point plan that it said was prepared by the administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
According to media reports, Kyiv objected to several points in the proposed plan, including those related to Ukraine relinquishing additional territories in the east and agreeing to not join NATO permanently.
