Minister of Health: Outpatient Clinics of the Sector Received 9.5 Million Visitors Last October

Achievements of the Therapeutic Medicine Sector
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, reviewed the key achievements of the therapeutic medicine sector during October 2025, during a meeting held at the ministry's headquarters in the presence of leaders of the therapeutic medicine sector, where a detailed report was presented by Dr. Peter Wajih, Assistant Minister for Therapeutic Medicine.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry's official spokesperson, explained that the sector's hospitals received more than 9.5 million visitors in outpatient clinics, with 3 million cases in emergency and reception, and 377,000 surgical operations were performed.
He pointed out that the presentation included the doubling of intensive care beds and stroke units, the addition of new dialysis units, the installation of 3D and 4D ultrasound devices, the activation of brain and open-heart surgeries, and the enhancement of breast cancer services.
Abdel Ghaffar noted the implementation of 108 training days benefiting 13,076 specialists and practitioners in the physical therapy department, the opening of new departments in Fayoum, Kafr El Sheikh, and Dakahlia, with the minister directing the optimal use of modern devices, providing 40 new devices in the dental department, and establishing a fixed prosthetics laboratory and new clinics.
He added that the minister directed the establishment of an automated system for managing and operating medical supplies, recording all therapeutic interventions, utilizing specialized competencies, and training young doctors.
In the field of radiology, 210 facilities were inspected, 138 ionizing radiology facilities were licensed, and 28 non-ionizing facilities were licensed, with 54 doctors trained on advanced programs, along with the minister's directive to automate the operation rates of devices to detect malfunctions immediately.
As for the specialized medical councils, they provided therapeutic services at the state's expense amounting to 13.2 billion Egyptian pounds from July 1 to November 15, 2025, and consulted 700 cases via video conference, emphasizing the establishment of strict eligibility controls and governance of decisions.
In the national program for combating AIDS and blood services, medications were provided free of charge to all patients, GeneXpert devices were activated in 11 governorates, DNA testing for blood banks was conducted at a rate of 91.11%, and more than 1,000 blood donation campaigns were implemented.
Regarding emergency and critical care services, 59,199 requests were received via the hotline (137) and 44,828 cases were accommodated, with the addition of 296 adult care beds, 271 pediatric care beds, and 227 incubators.
The General Administration of Pharmaceutical Affairs achieved the provision of Egyptian-made alternatives worth 221 million Egyptian pounds, activated antibiotic rationalization programs, and conducted 56 inspection missions.
In mental health, the electronic platform received 117,149 visitors, 13,632 therapeutic sessions were conducted, the mandatory admission department was opened at Imbaba Hospital, 284 integrated service cards were issued, and 16,095 employees and drivers were tested for substance abuse, along with the development of treatment protocols for the elderly.
