The Faculty of Nursing at Cairo University is organizing an awareness seminar under the patronage of Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadiq, acting president of the university, titled "Diabetes and Health: Together for a Better University Community," coinciding with the celebration of World Diabetes Day. The seminar aims to enhance health awareness within the university and discuss the latest scientific methods for preventing diabetes and improving the quality of life. It will take place at 10 AM tomorrow, Monday, November 24, 2025, in the health sector building.
The seminar will feature lectures from Dr. Naglaa Mohamed Abdel Fattah, Associate Professor of Nutrition and Food Sciences at the National Nutrition Institute, and Dr. Hind Abdel Moneim, Lecturer of Physical Therapy for Internal Diseases at the Faculty of Physical Therapy at Cairo University, along with the attendance of a number of deans, faculty members, staff, and students.
Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadiq emphasized Cairo University’s commitment to organizing various awareness activities aimed at informing university members, including faculty, students, and staff, about diabetes, its symptoms, the importance of early detection, prevention methods, and the significance of adhering to treatment and preventing complications.
He confirmed that participating in the celebration of World Diabetes Day stems from the university's national role in spreading awareness and encouraging healthy behaviors, noting that raising awareness within the university community contributes to building a generation capable of protecting itself and its family, and enhances the culture of health responsibility, which is fundamental to quality of life and reducing the spread of chronic diseases.
Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadiq added that World Diabetes Day represents a profound humanitarian and scientific message that highlights the role of scientific research in protecting individuals and building a healthier future. He pointed out that awareness and prevention are the two main pillars in combating chronic diseases like diabetes, affirming that the Egyptian state, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, has placed great emphasis on the health of citizens through presidential initiatives, foremost among them the "100 Million Health" initiative, which has successfully screened millions of citizens for early detection of chronic diseases and provided free treatment and continuous follow-up programs for patients.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Attar, Vice President of Cairo University for Academic Affairs, stated that the university places great importance on raising awareness among its members about diabetes to make the campus a model for adopting healthy behaviors. He affirmed that the initiatives and health awareness programs organized by the university contribute to enhancing the physical and mental health of students and represent one of the most important tools in combating this disease, which poses an increasing global health challenge.
In turn, Dr. Gehan El-Minyaoui, Dean of the Health Sector Colleges, confirmed that the celebration of World Diabetes Day is part of a series of health initiatives launched by the health sector at the university as part of its commitment to disseminating simplified medical knowledge and raising awareness within the university community about the dangers of chronic diseases and prevention methods. She noted that diabetes is one of the most prevalent diseases and requires an effective role in raising awareness about the disease among university members to support their public health and encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle that enables them to face current health challenges.
