CORE SUBJECT
Injuries in Gaza
Doctors Without Borders announced today, Friday, that its medical teams in Gaza treated Palestinian women and children this week for injuries resulting from airstrikes and gunfire from Israeli forces, following nearly six weeks of a fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Open Fractures and Wounds
The organization stated that its medical teams in northern and southern Gaza have treated women and children with open fractures and wounds caused by gunfire to the limbs and heads since Wednesday.
It also added that it provided medical care in hospitals and clinics in Gaza City to the north and Rafah to the south.
A nurse in Gaza reported that a nine-year-old girl was treated on Wednesday at a hospital in Gaza City for a facial injury caused by gunfire from an Israeli drone.
This came after the Israeli army previously denied intentionally targeting civilians.
Under the ceasefire agreement, the Israeli army withdrew to what is known as the "yellow line," which allows it to control 53% of the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, Gaza City, the largest urban area in the strip, is under Hamas control, while Rafah is under Israeli control.
Exchange of Accusations
It is noted that Israel and Hamas have repeatedly exchanged accusations of violating the ceasefire, although it remains officially in effect.
The Israeli army stated that since October 10, it has killed individuals it described as "terrorists" who crossed the yellow line, conducting operations it claimed were in response to attacks targeting its soldiers.
Statistics from the Gaza Ministry of Health indicate that the Israeli army has killed 312 Palestinians in the strip since October 11.
Today, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) reported that at least 67 children have been killed in what it described as incidents related to the conflict since the ceasefire took effect.
