CORE SUBJECT
Death sentence for two drivers accused of molesting a minor and kidnapping in Alexandria
The Alexandria Criminal Court, headed by Judge Hani Kamal Gabriel, sentenced today, Sunday, both "A.S.A" and "M.M.F", drivers, to death by hanging following the legal opinion of the Grand Mufti of the Republic. They were accused of kidnapping two minors, a female student and a male student aged 17, molesting the female, and assaulting the male inside a car.
The case, registered under number 19517 for the year 2025 in the Dakhila Criminal Court, began when the Alexandria Security Directorate received a report that a person claiming to be a police officer kidnapped the victims by car at night while they were within the police precinct.
Investigations, supported by police inquiries and witness testimonies, revealed that while the victims were in the Corniche El Hanoville area, the first accused approached them, claiming to be a police officer. He detained them under suspicion, assaulted the male student, and confiscated his ID and personal money.
The investigations added that the young man and woman complied out of fear of his "alleged" authority. He led them to a car, detained them inside, and terrorized them by verbally abusing and physically assaulting the male victim. He then drove to unknown locations, removing them from public view, forcibly kidnapping them against their will, and took money belonging to the female victim to buy a pack of cigarettes.
Further investigations, supported by surveillance camera footage from the area, showed that after releasing the male victim from the car, the accused kept the female victim, forced her to sit in the front seat, and forcibly molested her, making his assault a condition to spare her from further harm.
The investigations revealed that the accused recorded videos of the girl during the assault. Escalating his crime, he contacted the second accused, a driver. Upon meeting, they agreed that the second accused would drive the car while the first continued his assault on her. Then, the second accused also assaulted the female victim. Afterward, they released her and fled.
Following legal procedures and the arrest of the accused, a report was filed. When presented to the Public Prosecution, they were detained pending investigations until they were referred to the Alexandria Criminal Court, which issued the aforementioned verdict. The panel included judges Mahmoud El Sherbini, Mohamed Abdel Fattah, Mohamed Abdel Maqsoud Qantoush, the head of the First Amreya Prosecution Mahmoud Ghali, and the court secretary Ahmed El Sayed.
