CORE SUBJECT

Economic and political indicators for Egypt in 2026

The journalist and media personality Emad El-Din Adeeb stated that Egypt will enter the year 2026 witnessing an improvement in remittances from Egyptians abroad, reaching about 33 billion dollars. This was part of his review of economic indicators within his vision of Egypt's outlook as the new year approaches.

He added during an interview on the program "Al-Hekaya" presented by media figure Amr Adeeb on "MBC Masr" channel on Sunday evening, that there is an expectation for these remittances to rise to 40 billion dollars by the end of next year, pointing out that exports have reached a value of 44 billion dollars.

Adeeb explained that there is an 18% growth in the industrial sector, noting that these indicators come from the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and the Central Bank of Egypt. He also pointed out that there are policies to reduce imports alongside a 35% increase in tax revenues.

He confirmed that there is progress in gas discoveries and an improvement in tourism, clarifying that the most important factor is the beginning of re-engineering the way public debt is managed.

On the political front, Adeeb said it is not possible to predict now the shape of the next parliament or whether it will be better or worse than the current one, so a period must be awaited to assess the parliament's performance and its handling of various issues.

Regarding the situation on the borders, he confirmed that Egypt is dealing with crises on its various border fronts, emphasizing that Egypt handles matters clearly and frankly without any discrepancy between what is said publicly and what is said behind closed doors.

He stated that some had leaned towards the idea that there would be acceptance of the displacement of Palestinians, but this is impossible whether from Egypt’s president, army, or people, as Egypt cannot be part of such a conspiracy.

He stressed that Egypt’s position is clear regarding Sudan as well as the situation in Libya, where there are two red lines—one in Libya and the other in Sudan—which have been clearly and publicly announced. Additionally, a red line has been drawn concerning Egypt’s share of water in relation to the situation with Ethiopia.
