Epstein investigation documents and their relation to Trump

American lawmakers expressed their anger over the numerous redacted sections in the "heavily edited" documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice from its investigations into the late businessman and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

They also voiced frustration that the Department of Justice failed to release the full archive, as required by a law passed by Congress and enacted after being signed by Trump under pressure last month.

Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer said what happened was nothing but a cover-up to protect Donald Trump from his unsavory past.

Meanwhile, Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Republican representative from Georgia who has repeatedly challenged Trump on this issue, criticized the government for concealing "the corrupt wealthy and powerful elites who commit crimes, instead of revealing their names and protecting them," according to Radio Monte Carlo International.

Officials in the Trump administration confirmed that the redactions in the documents were intended solely to protect victims of the sex trafficking involving Epstein, not to protect any politician.

CNN, the American news network, commented on the release of the files, saying: "Notably, the president's name appeared only sparingly... It was particularly striking how many photos of Bill Clinton appeared in this first batch, compared to the few photos of Trump, despite the apparently clear close friendship between Trump and Epstein for many years."

In one of the very few references to Trump, the documents state that Epstein introduced a 14-year-old girl to Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

During the alleged meeting in the 1990s, the document says Epstein nudged Trump with his elbow and "jokingly asked," referring to the girl, "She's good, isn't she?"

According to the 2020 lawsuit filed against Epstein's estate and Ghislaine Maxwell, Trump smiled and nodded in agreement.

The document notes that "both laughed," while the girl felt uncomfortable but "was too young at the time to understand why."

The victim says she was lured and exploited by Epstein over many years. The legal file does not formally accuse Trump of any wrongdoing.
