May Last a Month.. Details of the Strikes on ISIS in Syria and a Message on a Bomb

The extensive US strikes carried out by the international coalition against ISIS on Friday night, as part of Operation "Eagle Eye," targeted dozens of sites in central Syria, including the Badia region, Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, and Homs.

More than 100 precision-guided munitions were used during the operation, with expectations that the operation could continue for several weeks or possibly a month, according to US officials.

The Jordanian Air Force also participated in supporting the strikes with fighter jets to assist the operation against the organization.

These strikes came as "revenge" for the killing of US soldiers last Saturday during an operation carried out by a Syrian security member affiliated with ISIS, who was reportedly about to be dismissed from service according to Syrian authorities at the time. Two US soldiers and a civilian interpreter were killed last Saturday in the city of Palmyra in central Syria by an attacker who targeted a convoy of US and Syrian forces before being killed by US army gunfire. Three other US soldiers were also wounded in the attack.

A Message on a Bomb

In recent hours, a photo circulated on social media, published by the Department of Defense, showing a US soldier writing the names of the two soldiers and the civilian who were killed on a bomb just before it was launched toward ISIS targets.

Additionally, the US military revealed that its forces have conducted more than 80 operations against terrorists in Syria over the past six months. Approximately one thousand US soldiers remain currently deployed in Syria.

Major ISIS Attacks

US estimates indicate that between 2,500 and 7,000 active ISIS fighters remain in Syria and Iraq until 2025.

Thousands more are detained in prisons and camps in northeastern Syria.

Since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime on December 8, 2024, the number of ISIS attacks in Syria has increased from 121 in 2023 to about 294 attacks in 2024.

ISIS employs various tactics such as ambushes, improvised explosive devices, assassinations, and suicide bombings.

The most notable attack was in June 2025, when an ISIS member targeted an Orthodox church in Damascus, killing 25 people and injuring 63 others.

The terrorist organization has also launched dozens of attacks on military and government positions, especially in the countryside of Homs, Deir ez-Zor, Aleppo, and Palmyra.

In contrast, the US-led international coalition has conducted about 80 operations against ISIS since July 2025, resulting in 14 deaths and the arrest of 119 others.
