CORE SUBJECT
Palestine's response to ICC sanctions and calls for peace
The State of Palestine expressed deep regret today, Friday, over the imposition of sanctions on two additional judges at the International Criminal Court, as this constitutes a serious violation of the independence of the international judiciary and undermines the international justice system, which could lead to chaos, the absence of the rule of law, and weaken international efforts.
In this context, the State of Palestine calls on the U.S. administration to compel the Israeli occupation government to stop its ongoing crimes and violations against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, such as settlement expansion, settler terrorism, and the release of the detained funds of our people.
It affirms that these policies constitute a blatant violation of international law, undermine the institutions of the Palestinian National Authority, sabotage the two-state solution, and obstruct peace efforts led by U.S. President Donald Trump, in cooperation with partners from Arab and Islamic countries and the rest of the world, according to the Palestinian News Agency "Wafa."
The State of Palestine also stresses the urgent implementation of President Trump's plan and UN Security Council Resolution No. 2803 by establishing a ceasefire, ensuring the immediate flow of humanitarian aid including food, medicine, and shelter materials amid catastrophic humanitarian conditions, the immediate withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces, and enabling the Palestinian government and its national police and security apparatuses to fully assume their responsibilities.
The State of Palestine emphasizes the importance of accelerating reconstruction efforts and seriously advancing the implementation of the two-state solution by ending the Israeli occupation and enabling the Palestinian people to achieve their freedom and independence in their sovereign independent state.
The State of Palestine renews its readiness to work towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
