MP Michel Al-Gamal: Sisi's Meeting with Al-Burhan a Decisive Message Supporting Sudan's Unity and Sovereignty

MP Michel Al-Gamal, member of the Senate, confirmed that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's reception of Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, at this sensitive time clearly reflects Egypt's concern with the Sudanese crisis and embodies Egypt's pivotal role as a state supporting regional stability and keen on the security of its strategic neighborhood.

Al-Gamal explained in a statement today that the timing of the visit carries highly significant political implications amid escalating developments on the ground in Sudan and attempts to impose a rejected political and security reality. He emphasized that Cairo sent a clear message that Sudan's security is an integral part of Egypt's national security.

The senator pointed out that President Sisi's statements during the meeting set red lines that are not open to interpretation or compromise, foremost among them the full support for Sudan's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity; the firm rejection of any attempts to divide Sudan or establish parallel entities to the legitimate government; and the refusal to allow threats to Sudan's state cohesion or tampering with its national institutions.

Al-Gamal added that President Sisi's affirmation of these principles reflects the clarity of Egypt's vision and closes the door on any scenarios that threaten Sudan's stability or seek to prolong the conflict.

Regarding the Nile waters issue, Al-Gamal stressed that the renewed joint Egyptian-Sudanese rejection of any unilateral measures on the Blue Nile represents a strategic line of defense for the historical and water rights of both countries. It also confirms the alignment of interests and unified stance concerning the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), considering it an existential issue rather than merely a technical dispute.

Al-Gamal also praised the agreement between the two presidents on the importance of the quadripartite mechanism, considering it a necessary path to reach a comprehensive political settlement, halt the war, and create the conditions for Sudan to regain its health.
