CORE SUBJECT
Egypt's support for Lebanon and rejection of Israeli violations
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed Egypt's supportive stance towards Lebanon and its rejection of Israel's repeated violations against Lebanese territory.
At the conclusion of his visit and the accompanying delegation to Lebanon, Madbouly emphasized Egypt's firm and supportive position towards Lebanon—its leadership, government, and people—and its constant keenness to support Lebanon during this critical phase as it faces exceptional challenges on all levels.
Madbouly confirmed Egypt's rejection of Israel's repeated violations against Lebanese lands, as well as the occupation of parts of it, stressing the necessity of an immediate and unconditional withdrawal from all Lebanese territories and respect for the ceasefire agreement, in addition to the full and non-selective implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
He stated that Egypt "views Lebanon as a fundamental pillar of stability in the Arab East. Egypt spares no effort in continuing its diligent endeavors to keep Lebanon away from any escalation and affirms that Lebanon's stability and national unity are an integral part of the security and stability of the entire Arab region."
For his part, Salam said that today he discussed with Madbouly the priorities of cooperation in several vital sectors, from energy to transport, from industry to digital economy, and from infrastructure to education and irrigation, stressing the necessity of careful follow-up on what was agreed upon, in a spirit of partnership rather than courtesy, and with a planning approach rather than improvisation.
Salam added: "We consider the relationship between our two countries to be more than just an exchange of interests; it is a complement in vision, an interaction in the path, and a shared history we want to carry confidently into the future."
He continued: "What we started together a few weeks ago in Cairo within the framework of the Lebanese-Egyptian Higher Committee, we are following up today with practical steps in Beirut through a constructive bilateral meeting I held with President Madbouly, and an expanded meeting between the two ministerial delegations."
He expressed his "deep appreciation for Egypt's role in supporting Lebanon in its efforts to end the Israeli occupation of parts of its precious south, to stop the ongoing Israeli hostilities, and to release our prisoners, as well as our appreciation for Egypt's constant accompaniment of Lebanon in its reform journey and its steadfast commitment to Lebanon's unity and sovereignty under all circumstances."
