BRUSSELS, December 19. /TASS/. Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia have refused to participate in financing the interest-free €90 billion loan to Ukraine for 2026-2027, according to the joint statement of the European Council.
"The European Council agrees to provide a €90 billion loan to Ukraine for the years 2026-2027 based on the EU's borrowing on capital markets guaranteed by the EU budget margin," the document reads. "Any mobilization of Union budget resources as a guarantee for this loan will have no impact on the financial obligations of the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia."
Hungary and Slovakia even refused to sign the joint statement. "The text presented in this document was firmly supported by 25 heads of state or government," the document states.
