Mohammed bin Zayed Congratulates King of Morocco on Winning the Arab Cup

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, congratulated King Mohammed VI of Morocco and the Moroccan people on winning the Arab Cup held in Qatar.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed wrote in a post on his official X account: "I congratulate my brother His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the brotherly Moroccan people on winning the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 in football, after an outstanding performance and high sportsmanship spirit by the teams of Morocco and Jordan."

He added: "I commend the successful organization of the tournament by the brotherly State of Qatar, and I wish everyone success in the upcoming competitions."

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, also congratulated Morocco on their Arab Cup victory.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said in a post on his official X account: "All congratulations to the brotherly Moroccan people... and to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for the well-deserved victory of the Moroccan national team in the Arab Cup."

He continued: "A remarkable match that entertained millions... and a high spirit of sportsmanship... a Moroccan team we are proud of... and a Jordanian team we rejoice in... Our appreciation to the State of Qatar and its Emir for this precious tournament... which united the Arabs... entertained the Arabs... and delighted the Arab peoples."

The Moroccan national football team won the Arab Cup after defeating Jordan 3-2 after extra time in the final on Thursday at Lusail Stadium in Doha.

Morocco's goals were scored by Oussama Tannane with a shot from about sixty meters early in the match (4th minute) and substitute Abderrazak Hamdallah (88th, 100th minutes), while Jordan's goals were scored by Ali Alwan (48th and 68th from a penalty).

This is Morocco's second title after 2012, keeping the trophy in Africa following Algeria's win in 2021, also in Qatar, while Jordan failed to secure their first title in their first final appearance.

Following their historic achievement at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where they became the first African and Arab team to reach the semifinals, the successes of Moroccan football have continued to rise.

Morocco qualified this year for the 2026 World Cup, won the U-20 World Cup in Chile, the African Nations Championship, and the U-17 African Cup, and capped off the year with the Arab Cup title, noting that their senior team is preparing to host the Africa Cup of Nations starting Sunday.

On the other hand, Jordan failed to win the title for the first time in their first final appearance and suffered another loss in a final at Lusail Stadium, which hosted the 2022 World Cup final, after losing the 2024 Asian Cup final in February to Qatar.

The "Nashama" are preparing to participate in the World Cup for the first time in their history next summer in North America.
