Morocco's national team concluded an exceptional year across various age groups by winning the Arab Cup in football, following an exciting 3-2 victory after extra time against Jordan in the final held on Thursday at the World Cup Lusail Stadium, amid rainy and stormy weather in Doha.

The most remarkable moment in the final came early when Moroccan star Osama Tnan scored a goal described as "intercontinental," with an astonishing shot from over half the field in the 4th minute, taking advantage of Jordan's goalkeeper Yazid Abu Leila being out of his goal. This goal was considered the most beautiful in the tournament and one of the standout goals of 2025.

Who is Osama Tnan?

Osama Tnan was born on March 23, 1994, in the Moroccan city of Tetouan and is 31 years old. He moved with his family to the Netherlands during his first year and later acquired Dutch citizenship.

A Diverse European Career

Tnan began his football journey in the youth teams of prestigious Dutch clubs, most notably Ajax and Eindhoven, before continuing his development at Utrecht and then Heerenveen, where he played his first season with the first team in 2012-2013.

He later shone with Heracles between 2013 and 2016, which opened the door for him to play professionally in the French league with Saint-Étienne. However, he did not get a chance to continue there and was loaned to Las Palmas in Spain and Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands, which he joined permanently in the summer of 2020.

He also had subsequent stints with Göztepe in Turkey and Nijmegen in the Netherlands before moving in the summer of 2023 to the Qatari league through Umm Salal Club.

From the Netherlands to Morocco's Jersey

Osama Tnan represented the Netherlands in youth national teams (under-17 and under-19) and reached the senior team before deciding in 2016 to represent his home country Morocco, following an invitation from former coach Baddou Zaki.

He made his official appearance with Morocco's senior national team under French coach Hervé Renard, participating in 10 international matches and scoring two goals before being absent from the national team since 2020.

A Significant Return in the Arab Cup

Tnan returned to the international spotlight by decision of coach Tarik Sektioui, who brought him back to the reserve national team participating in the 2025 Arab Cup. The player participated in all the tournament matches, delivering impressive performances crowned by a historic goal in the final.
