French Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pascal Confarro told reporters after the meeting, which was attended by envoys from France, the United States, and Saudi Arabia to Lebanon, "We are working on providing the committee with practical means on the ground to verify the progress made in the process of disarming Hezbollah."
He explained that "the Commander of the Lebanese Army presented during the meeting the progress made by his forces in the south of the country, in addition to the army's needs, noting that there is consensus on seriously documenting this progress and working within the framework of the ceasefire monitoring mechanism."
According to Confarro, the attendees agreed on "the principle of holding an international conference to support the Lebanese Army in February, without specifying the location of the conference."
Previously, there had been talk of holding a similar support conference in Saudi Arabia before the end of this year.

The meeting was supposed to discuss a draft mechanism for monitoring the disarmament of Hezbollah, with the assistance of French forces, within the framework of the ceasefire monitoring committee's work.
