MP Mohamed Abu Al-Nasr: Illegal Israeli Settlements Constitute a Gross Violation of the Rights of the Palestinian People

MP Mohamed Abdel Aal Abu Al-Nasr, member of the Senate representing the Homeland Defenders Party, affirmed his full support for the statement issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which condemned the continued expansion of illegal Israeli settlements and the accompanying repeated violations and serious breaches of international law. He emphasized that these practices represent a blatant challenge to all international resolutions and a deliberate undermining of the opportunities to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region.

Abu Al-Nasr explained in a statement today that Israeli settlements are a clear violation of the provisions of international humanitarian law and relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost among them those affirming the illegality of settlement activity in the occupied Palestinian territories. He pointed out that the ongoing settlement expansion, along with repeated attacks and violations around the settlements, exacerbates tensions and undermines regional and international efforts aimed at calming the situation.

He noted that the repeated Israeli violations, especially those related to settlements, include attacks on Palestinian lands and properties and restrictions on the movement of civilians, in clear violation of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He stressed that international silence regarding these practices encourages their continuation, increases the suffering of the Palestinian people, and threatens the stability of the entire region.

The senator praised Egypt’s steady and responsible role in supporting the Palestinian cause and the diplomatic efforts led by the Egyptian state to stop violations and preserve the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. He affirmed that Egypt’s historic stance reflects a firm commitment to the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

MP Mohamed Abdel Aal Abu Al-Nasr concluded his statement by emphasizing the necessity for the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities regarding what is happening in the occupied Palestinian territories. He called for deterrent measures to stop settlement expansion and related violations, and to support a serious political track that revives the peace process and ensures security and stability in the region, away from policies of imposing facts on the ground that only lead to further conflict.
