CORE SUBJECT
Egypt's support for Sudan's security, stability, and territorial integrity
Egypt affirmed its firm and supportive stance on the security, stability, and territorial integrity of Sudan amid the rapid developments taking place in the Sudanese arena.
This was stated during the visit of Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, to Egypt.
The Arab Republic of Egypt renewed its full support for the vision presented by former U.S. President Donald Trump, aimed at achieving security, stability, and peace in Sudan, within the framework of the international approach seeking to establish peace, avoid escalation, and resolve conflicts worldwide.
Egypt expressed deep concern over the ongoing escalation and severe tension in Sudan, which have resulted in serious violations and horrific massacres against civilians, especially in the city of El Fasher, firmly rejecting any practices that violate the most basic human rights.
Egypt emphasized that Sudan’s security is a direct extension of its national security, affirming the existence of red lines that cannot be crossed, foremost among them preserving Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity, and rejecting any attempts to separate any part of its territory, establish parallel entities, or recognize them.
Egypt also stressed that preserving Sudanese state institutions and preventing any harm to them is another red line, pointing to its full right to take necessary measures and procedures guaranteed by international law and the joint defense agreement between the two countries, to ensure these fundamentals are not violated.
At the conclusion of the statement, Egypt renewed its keenness to continue working within the framework of the international quartet, aiming to reach a humanitarian truce that paves the way for a ceasefire, with the establishment of safe humanitarian corridors and shelters to provide necessary protection for Sudanese civilians, in full coordination with Sudanese state institutions.
This was declared by the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy.
