Sayed added in a statement today, Wednesday, that medical tourism is not just a form of entertainment but a global industry that generates billions of dollars for the GDP and significantly supports the development of the national economy.

The Senate member explained that the strategic importance of medical tourism for Egypt lies in providing high-quality natural healthcare along with the opportunity to enjoy unique tourism features. According to future plans, the size of the medical tourism market in Egypt is expected to reach 15 billion dollars by 2030: "This figure confirms that we have the capabilities to become a regional and global power in this field."

He pointed out that Egypt has proven its international status as a preferred destination, ranking 26th globally in the medical tourism index.

It also ranks fourth in the Arab world as the best therapeutic destination. He noted that one of Egypt's most distinctive features is the unique diversity of its therapeutic resources. According to the Information and Decision Support Center, Egypt has 16 inland and coastal sites for medical tourism, containing a huge number of mineral and sulfur springs estimated at about 1,356 springs, spread across Helwan, Fayoum, the oases, the Sinai Peninsula, and other therapeutic areas unmatched globally.

MP Ahmed Sayed praised the steps taken by the Egyptian government to develop the national health tourism strategy to support the Egyptian medical tourism sector, aiming to enhance growth paths and comprehensive economic development in line with Egypt's Vision 2030.

He added that this vision is embodied in developing therapeutic destinations in Red Sea cities such as Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada, and new cities like New Alamein and Ras El Hikma, making them global destinations combining treatment, healing, and luxury.
