Sisi and the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo Agree to Enhance Consultation and Bilateral Cooperation on Issues of Common Interest

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call today from President Félix Tshisekedi, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The official spokesperson for the Presidency stated that the call covered the overall distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The President expressed his appreciation for the continuous communication and consultation with President Tshisekedi, praising his participation in the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum, and confirming his anticipation to host him soon on a bilateral visit to continue enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, President Tshisekedi valued the momentum witnessed in Egyptian-Congolese relations, expressing his appreciation for the support Egypt provides to his country across various sectors.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson, added that the call also touched on recent developments in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, where the President welcomed the signing of the Doha Agreement for Comprehensive Peace between the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Congo River Alliance/March 23 Movement. He also expressed Egypt's full support for the peace agreement signed in Washington in December 2025, emphasizing that it represents a very important step towards ending tension and enhancing security and stability in the Great Lakes region.

President Sisi pointed to Egypt’s readiness to exert every possible effort, including providing the necessary forums for the concerned parties, to support the conflict resolution process.

Meanwhile, the Congolese President expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s support for peace and stability efforts in his country and the region. The two presidents agreed on the necessity to intensify efforts to overcome any obstacles that may face the implementation of peace agreements.

The official spokesperson noted that the two presidents agreed on the importance of enhancing consultation and bilateral cooperation on issues of common interest, contributing to achieving stability, peace, and development in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
